Kashan Mosaïque

This pattern is made up of star- and cross-shaped pieces which were once part of a larger panel of tiles covering the walls of a building. Made probably in Kashan in Central Iran around 13th century, it depicts plants and birds on a background of spirals and dots. The panel is on view at The Met museum.
